Phonetics is something i enjoy a lot simply because it is practical. You don't just memorize it for good grades you literally have to practice it ever so often to a point where you start getting used to it enough to understand its proper use.
A child with a proper training in phonetics usually ends up becoming an eloquent speaker, being clear and audible, this of course with the combination of accents and stress helps such child explore the diversities of various cultures and countries.

i understand that the British curriculum is designed take the approach that each child is unique, with special talents and abilities and an individual learning style. 3-5 years is the Early Years Foundation Stage, while 5-11 years Key Stage 1 and 2.
