I don't teach verbal reasoning to children as I believe it is meant to develop their reasoning ability, what I do is guide them and give them clues on how they can tackle any problem but I may also explain into details if I feel a certain problem is beyond their reasoning ability. I will also recommend books that I believe will help to develop their thinking. I applied this method with a boy I once tutored and he now attempt his assignments without anyone's assistance not minding if he'll get it right on wrong.
