One of my approaches to helping my pupils achieve this feat is by the sounding method in which I encourage my pupils to read aloud, pronounces each letter aloud until they recognize the word by sound.
For numeracy, I help my pupils to access, use, interpret, and communicate mathematical information and ideas, in order to engage in and manage the mathematical demands of various situations in adult years.
