Literature in English

More than 6 years experience

I often marvel at the emotions and experiences that are an undertone of many works of literature. Studying Literature has helped me understand these things, whether vaguely or 'as in some instances', deeply, because I could relate with that emotion or experience. I could feel the pain, the joy and sometimes the writer's fear, a confirmation that we are all connected, at least one way or the other. This, is the beauty of Literature.
Literature preserves the ideals of a people. Through literature, we observe the dynamic nature of cultures and customs, and are educated on history and happenings.
The ability to appreciate Literature not only enhances communication skills but promotes effective mental reasoning too.
My students over time have turned out to be critical and creative in their thinking, mentally alert and aware of their environment and the various issues of life. This I applaud after all, Josh Lanyon once said that if there was one life skill everyone needed, it was the ability to think with critical objectivity. He couldn't have said it any better.

The British curriculum is quite engaging. It is more learner-centered than teacher based, encouraging creative thinking. it gives room for differentiated learning and most especially, it promotes fun learning.
